Sharing and permissions
What the Share panel offers depends on whether the thing is public or private, because for a public internote the link has already answered the question.
#Two shapes, by visibility
- Private
- The panel hands out View or Edit. Neither is implied by the address — somebody who has not been invited cannot open it at all — so both are worth offering.
- Public
- The panel hands out Edit alone. Viewing is what the link already grants anyone, so offering “view access” would be offering something they have.
Underneath, both are the same list of people. Making something public does not clear who you have shared it with; it changes what the address gives away.
#Inviting someone
Open the internote or map and press Share in the sidebar. Invite by email address, choose the level, and the item appears under Shared with me in their library.
The panel lists everyone who currently has access, so you can see who you invited months ago and remove them.
#Sharing an unpublished draft
Sharing does not publish. A draft shared with someone is still a draft, and what they see is your working copy — which is exactly what you want for a review, and exactly what you do not want if you thought you were sending them a finished page.

#Forking
Fork takes your own copy of a published internote to build on. The copy is yours — a new draft in your Studio, with no link back that lets the original author change it.
Forking is public and attributed: the author of the original is notified that you forked it. This is the intended way to build on someone else’s work rather than something done quietly.
